Seven days from the Pacific to the desert. Three hundred miles and change, ninety-one hours and forty-five minutes of moving time, eighteen thousand feet of climbing, and six pounds gone by the end of it.
I ran it for mental health — because the hardest miles are never the ones in the desert. Somewhere out there I broke down completely, and it was the most beautiful feeling in the world.
